The Aesthetic Experience

A water, once so clear, like the air, like the sky, like the wind that blew though me. It became so colorful, like a burning sunset or like the sun hitting the water from down below. It was captivating. It drew me in, let me swim in the lights as it changed. Chanting an endless tune that held no sound. I couldn't help but feel as though it was started to darken. Blue turned to Red, Red turned to Green, Green turned to Black... As if the light had been shrouded by my fears, by something I didn't know. A fear of shadows... a fear of black...A fear of something that I didn't know.I just stared into the black void, unable to read anything. It was a black hole then, endless turning, churning in an infinite and unseen spiral. Drawing away from my light. It took away the sun, it took away the fire, it took away it's once clear nature and yet....it isn't as empty as before. It once danced with a jumble of blue and red. A shadow of green intertwined, it consumed and exploding it's colors soon lost within it. I don't think I could see as it was destroyed. It faded as quick as it came... I was...confused, I think. Why were all three of those colors consumed by one another.... So confused....by that unknown darkness. I looked, feeling as though my heart corresponded with the shadows that had taken light. I felt as though my breathe wasn't coming. It wasn't as easy to breathe when I eyes were locked on that blackness.I don't know why. It just refused to go, as if to not blow away the shadows that consumed that clear water. Red...Blue...and Green all combined to form that shadow, dancing in an infinite and lost loop of dance that held no sound, no tune, no melody. It was sickeningly beautiful, even as the light was bounced out, eradicated from it's once clear space.

Hybrid Bird

An exercise borrowed from “I’ve Got a Human in My Throat” by Chris Johnson.
In preparation for our PERSONAL METAPHOR project we brushed up our skills combining objects together. Using layer masks and the clone stamp we blended this dog and bird together.

Let me tell you, it's FUNNY!!! It's a bird dog!!

Movie Moments

Inspired by Cindy Sherman, a contemporary photographer who took photos of herself starring in movies that never existed.

Movie: Charlies Angels
Genre: Drama/Action
Movie Summary: A trio of feisty women are reunited together by their boss Charlie. Charlie runs a private investigation agency. These women are the best he has trained to beat down the bad guys using their martial art techniques and master disguise. Once they are brought together they are to defeat and capture the villain Dr. Roberts. However, the girls soon realize that in reality their enemy is a woman rather than a male which flips everything around and causes them to reenact their investigations and attempt capturing the villain once again before time runs out and the world is destroyed.

Scene Explanation: This is the alteration of the original fight scene idea. I am dressed as a fencer of the middle ages. I am fighting Dr. Robert's brother(Who's name shall be disclosed) in a fencing fight and he's telling me about his sister. So, one would think that Dr.Roberts is this man that I am fighting instead of his sister. All three photos are the same scene at different points.

Chocolate Frog

For Valentines Day, we turned frogs into chocolate.

I thought this was fun. It gave me the chance to turn something into chocolate which I can is VERY funny when your frog looks like a melt candy bar.

I learned that turning something brown doesn't make it chocolate. You need to get rid of certain figures... I also learned that Magic wand is VERY confusing.

Shadows and Reflections

In these exercises, we learned how to create Shadows & reflections to help us create more realistic artwork.

A new tool we learned was Layer Mask.

The things we learned here can help me in the future by allowing me to mix photos and to create a beautiful reflection.

Aged Photo

In this project we used one of our framed photographs to practice using photoshop to create specific affects.

Balance with Frames

In this project we were given a frame. We had to use it in our composition. We also had to be in our photo but not in the center. It was to be in black and white, and we needed to create a sense of visual balance.

I created balance by using the tree behind me. It created a balance by the branches and the light also created a very good balance. The background also has a balance.

(Minus the fact that my face was cut off.)

The light also helped with the balance as well.

In this one, I created a unbalance, which was the other half of our task. I did off balance by sheer accident with this. So, the fact that I was much larger than my background creates an unbalance along with the background having no way of balancing it back out. Also, the lighting helped as well.

Random Object

We were each assigned a random object to photograph. We could chose to have it in color or black & white. We were to focus on "The Three C's"

According to my peers, one thing I did was that the composition. Many thought I did that very well. One thing they suggested was for more detail and for me to change my lighting.

I agree with this though. I made the mistake in taking the picture in the wrong place. If I had changed where I was at, made the lighting more in tune, then it would've turned out better. I thank you all for the advice.

(By sheer accident, I deleted the original. Please forgive me!!)

Egg Challenge

In this project each student was given an egg to photograph. We were to take a photo in both color and black-and-white. We were supposed to exemplify one or more of the following:
Creativity, Craftsmanship or Composition.

I believe my black and white egg was the most successful because it looks very well done and the contrast is very good. Also, it doesn't look flat!!

My favorite project from last semester

I was transferred from night classes since I joined the school 6 weeks late. My art experience mainly is in drawings. I'm now learning from my teacher(Ms. Cook) and from my mom on how to take Photographs.
This project was the Frames with No Balance. I liked this picture best to tell the truth. To explain is only short. We were to take pictures using contrast and by putting one on balance and one off balance. I like this one because it is in motion and it has great shadows and great light.
